Humayun Kabir receives 11 trunks full of cash; total donation crosses 1 crore for Babri Masjid construction

A massive amount of money has reportedly been collected for Humayun Kabir’s proposed Babri Masjid project in Murshidabad, prompting his team to deploy a money-counting machine to handle the volume. According to local sources, 11 trunks filled with donated cash were transported to Kabir’s residence in Rejinagar, where the counting process has continued for several hours. Around 30 people have been assigned specifically for the task.

Humayun Kabir claimed that ₹9.3 million was collected simply through QR code scans, adding that the overwhelming public response had exceeded expectations. The former MLA laid the foundation stone for the proposed mosque in Murshidabad on Saturday. A day later, he was seen at the site holding bricks, signalling the beginning of construction activity.

The unexpected scale of the collection has generated significant attention, both locally and across neighbouring districts. Supporters and residents gathered outside Kabir’s home as the counting machines ran through the piles of cash inside the 11 trunks.

Alongside the Murshidabad project, fresh proposals have emerged from Birbhum and Malda as well. People from Rampurhat and Siuri have reportedly approached Kabir with requests to build similar “Babri” mosques. According to Kabir, several residents of Malda have also expressed interest.

Humayun Kabir said he would consider the proposals for constructing similar structures in Birbhum and Malda after reviewing the ground situation and public demand.
